GUWAHATI: The first phase of the Assam Panchayat Election 2025 recorded an approximate voter turnout of 41.87% till 1:30 PM on Friday, May 2. Polling is underway across 14 districts in Upper Assam, Northern Assam, and the Barak Valley, with voting scheduled from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Among the districts, Dhemaji reported the highest turnout at 48.4%, followed closely by Cachar at 48.10% and Lakhimpur at 47.75%. On the lower end, Tinsukia saw 34.37% and Dibrugarh 35%. Other districts, including Charaideo, Majuli, Jorhat, and Biswanath, reported turnout ranging between 37% and 45%.
A total of 12,916 polling stations have been set up for the first phase, with over 89.60 lakh voters eligible to cast their votes. Voting continues, with final turnout figures expected later in the evening.
