GUWAHATI: In a major crackdown on public health and safety violations, a popular sweets manufacturing unit in Guwahati has been sealed following a joint investigation by the Health and Enforcement Branches of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC).
The GMC Health and Enforcement Branch sealed the Bharat Mata Mistanna Bhandar over non-compliance with legal requirements and hygiene standards in the Japorigog area of Guwahati.
Authorities took swift action after discovering alarming non-compliance with legal requirements and hygiene standards at the facility, posing serious risks to public health.
The investigation revealed a range of violations that raised concerns about the safety of the products produced and distributed by the establishment.
While speaking to G Plus, an official from the GMC stated that the sweet manufacturing unit was operating without a valid trading license and many anomalies regarding hygiene were also found.
In view of this, the GMC levied a fine. The official further informed that the shop will only be operational once the fine is paid.
