GUWAHATI: Actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide, which rekindled debates over nepotism in Bollywood, also led to a steep decline in social media followers of some celebrities.

With some celebs straightaway blaming big names for Sushant Singh Rajput not getting his due credits in Bollywood, the issue has rapidly brought down the number of followers of Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar, Sonam Kapoor and Salman Khan. Some stars like Kangana Ranaut have even gained followers for taking sides and being vocal about the issue post the actor’s suicide.

Alia Bhatt, who had close to 48.8 million followers, has lost close to 1 million followers with 47.9 million users following her Instagram account.

Kangana Ranaut, on the other hand has gained close to 1.9 million followers which is almost double her previous count of 2 million followers.

Days after Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide, a case had been filed against 8 people including Karan Johar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Salman Khan and Ekta Kapoor in Muzaffarpur, Bihar on June 17.
