GUWAHATI: The Assam government has approved a one-time payment of ₹2 lakh each to 347 teachers who were excluded from appointments under the Other Backward Block (OBB) scheme.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed the decision at a press conference after the cabinet meeting held on Monday, May 5.
This measure was previously announced in Nalbari, as it aims to provide financial relief to the affected teachers who had completed the required formalities but were not included in the final appointments.
Another major development in the same meeting included the decision to replace ‘Official Memorandum’ with ‘Executive Order’ for official notifications, giving them greater administrative legitimacy.
