GUWAHATI: WhatsApp is working on a feature which will provide users with more control over groups on the app. This feature is currently being tested on the iOS beta version of WhatsApp.

According to a report published in Hindustan Times, first spotted by WABetaInfo, ‘Group Invitation’ feature can be tested out by WhatsApp beta users on iOS.

With this, WhatsApp has started the beta programme for iOS, hence now interested users can download the TestFlight app and join WhatsApp’s beta programme. The new feature will prevent users from being added to groups without their permission.

Group Invitation on the app comes with three options for groups. Users will be able to select 'Everyone' if they want to be added to groups by anyone, 'My Contacts' if they want to be added to groups by only people in their contacts and 'Nobody' if they do not want to be added on any groups. In this case, a message from the group admin will be sent to the WhatsApp user for the respective group and the request will be valid for 72 hours.
