Six Assam Cops Awarded Union Home Minister Medals For Excellence

GUWAHATI: Inspector General of Police, Special Task Force, Assam Police Partha Sarathi Mahanta and three other personnel have been awarded the Kendriya Grihamantri Dakshata Padak in the Special Operations field by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The three other STF personnel are Kalyan Kumar Pathak, Additional SP; Hemanta Kachari, LNK; and Rajkumar Kaibartta, UB Constable.


On the other hand, Subrata Kumar Sen, Addl. SP, Cachar and Amrit Kumar Singha, Inspector, O.C. Silchar PS have been awarded the Kendriya Grihamantri Dakshata Padak in the Field of Investigation


The awards to Mahanta and three others of STF came for their outstanding contributions from March 21, 2023 to March 20, 2024.

Under Mahanta’s leadership, the STF conducted operations aimed at dismantling organised crime covering drug trafficking, counterfeit currency circulation and rhino poaching. The STF also played a significant role in curbing the infiltration of Rohingyas from Bangladesh into Assam. In March 2024, the STF achieved a major breakthrough by apprehending the ISIS India head Harish Farukhi and his associate, who were planning sabotage activities in the region. 

The DGP, Assam, congratulated all the medal winners for their professional commitments.
