BJP’s Diganta Ghatowal Wins Behali Seat In Assam; NDA Leading In Three, Congress In One

 

GUWAHATI: The BJP won the bye-election to Behali assembly constituency in Assam with its candidate Diganta Ghatowal trouncing nearest rival and Congress candidate Jayanta Borah.

Ghatowal secured 50,947 votes, winning by a margin of 9,051 votes over Borah. It was a disappointing outing for AAP with its candidate Ananta Gogoi securing only 1,217.

In the four other bye-elections counting for which is underway, the BJP is leading at Dholai while its allies, UPPL and AGP at Sidli and Bongaigaon respectively, and appeared headed for victories. 

On the other hand, the Congress candidate Tanzil Hussain is leading over his nearest rival and BJP candidate Diplu Ranjan Sarmah by around 5,000 votes at Samaguri at the halfway mark
