Sharjeel Imam sent to 4-days custody of Assam Police

GUWAHATI: Sharjeel Imam, one of the key organisers of Shaheen Bagh protests in New Delhi was sent to a four-day custody of Assam Police on Monday February 24. 

Iman, who has allegedly raised 'cut-off-Assam' slogans during the protest was produced at Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court today.

On February 20, Imam was brought under the custody of Assam Police and after producing in the CJM court today his custody was extended for another four days.

Imam was arrested from Bihar on January 20. Following his derogatory remarks, the Assam police had registered a case against the Jawaharlal Nehru University scholar.

Sharjeel Imam, an activist, has been booked under several cases for allegedly delivering inflammatory speeches against Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).
