Gaurav Gogoi is a two-time Assam Lok Sabha MP, and has recently filed his nomination papers for the third time from the Jorhat Parliamentary Constituency in Assam. The 41-year-old is one of the most prominent leaders from Assam’s Congress Party and has been elected to the Lok Sabha twice; once in 2014 and then in 2019, from the Kaliabor constituency in Assam.

Gaurav Gogoi is the son of former Assam Chief Minister Late Tarun Gogoi, and hails from Nazirali in Jorhat. He completed his High School from St. Columba’s School in 2000, and went on to Graduate with a Bachelor of Technology Degree in Electronic Engineering from the Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering, in 2004. He further completed his Masters in Public Administration from New York University in 2010.

Gaurav Gogoi declared assets worth ₹38,30,796.62 in his affidavit, which he submitted to the Election Commission while filing his nomination. Gogoi also owns two properties and a flat, with a total worth of ₹2,25,00,000.
There are no criminal cases pending against Gogoi currently, although the Dispur Police had lodged an FIR against him after the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra chaos on January 23 at the outskirts of Guwahati.
