Several Events Cancelled and Postponed due to Protests in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A number of events that were scheduled through the month of December have been cancelled due to CAB/CAA protests that continue to be staged in the city. Given the rebellious mood prevailing in the city, these events are unlikely to be held anytime soon.

“Our concert was scheduled for 13th December. But due to the protests, we’ve postponed the event. The equipments were coming in from Kolkata and due to the protests, the roads were blocked and most of the flights were cancelled. We are working on a date for January,” said Sanpreet Singh, Jubin Nautiyal’s manager to G Plus.

“Also on humanitarian grounds, if people are protesting in a city, we can’t go and entertain people,” he further added.
Reportedly, Siddharth Mahadevan and Aastha Gill were also scheduled to perform in the city. However, amidst the rising tensions, their programmes were rescheduled. Zubeen Garg’s concert in Dibrugarh was also cancelled and Garg emerged as one of the torchbearers for the agitation.

The organizer of one of the events has said that the validity of tickets/ invitations would be extended to a further date.
Another event of stand-up comedian Atul Khatri, which was scheduled for December 20 at Guwahati, also remains cancelled.
