GUWAHATI: As a preventive measure to ensure peaceful movement of public, smooth flow of traffic and normal functioning of offices in East Guwahati area, Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 Govt. of Assam has been ordered by Dr. Ramandeep Kaur, Deputy Commissioner of Police, East Police District, Guwahati.
This will act as a deterrent to organisations trying to protest or take out rallies in Guwahati.

The order will cover areas of Dispur, Bhangagarh, Basistha, Hatigaon, Sonapur and Khetri Police Station where no gathering would be allowed without the permission of DCP East or any other competent authority.
Under Section 144, an assembly of more than 5 persons if without permission is found involved in agitation, demonstration, procession and shouting slogans, will be strictly dealt with.
The order shall remain in force from 14th November, 2018 till further notice.
