GUWAHATI: State Bank of India (SBI), the country's largest bank, will be donating Rs. 100 crores to the PM-CARES Fund.

2,56,000 employees of SBI have decided to contribute two days' salary to the PM's National Relief Fund.

SBI Chairman Rajnish Kumar informed that the employees have voluntarily pledged their two days' salary in the country's fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The state-owned lender had earlier committed 0.25 percent of its 2019-20 annual profit as CSR initiative for the cause.

PM Narendra Modi had set up the Prime Minister's Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund on March 25 as people across various walks of life had wished to support the state in its fight to combat the pandemic.

The State Bank of India had earlier alerted the citizens that many fraudsters have been scamming the doners in the most devious of ways by creating many false websites. SBI verified that the actual website for donation to the PM-CARES is pmcares@sbi.
