₹6.5 Crore Light & Sound Show Faces Technical Glitch At Gandhi Mandap

GUWAHATI: A technical snag was experienced at Wednesday’s light and sound screening in Gandhi Mandap, which was organised by the GMDA, and the event was graced by the Honourable Chairman Ashok Singhal.

Inaugurated as a mark of tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, this light and sound show was envisioned as a part of the Guwahati Smart City project. The holographic show is projected on the facade of Gandhi Mandap maidan situated on Sarania hills.

The event was supposed to commence at 6 PM sharp and there was a satisfactory number of people present to witness the visual spectacle. However, the program couldn’t emerge into the light of day due to some unavoidable circumstances and further appended by the minister’s tardiness.

Gaurav Mishra, who is the Project Director of this light and sound show has stated, “I don’t know what happened and I take full responsibility for this. We have set up projectors worth ₹6.5 crore and this electrical fault was caused due to rain. We usually have a smooth screening and our shows are aired in multiple languages. We did a test run at 3 PM as we usually do before any screening and it was running smooth.”

To further add, Ashok Singhal has stated, “Technical snags always happen, and after today’s rain it’s totally understandable, although I was personally looking forward to the screening. But, it’s not a big deal.”
