GUWAHATI: Assam’s Special Task Force (STF) conducted a raid on Thursday evening, November 21, at a rented house in Kharikata to seize counterfeit Indian currency notes (FICN) amounting to ₹4,59,000.

The raid led to the apprehension of Ali Ahmed, a 42-year-old resident originally from Bongalmara village in Lakhimpur district, who had been residing in Kharikata.
The counterfeit currency consisted of 918 notes of Rs. 500 denomination, and a mobile phone and eight rolls of tape, apparently used in the operation, were recovered as well.
Legal action has been initiated, while the STF continues to investigate the case under Sections 61(2), 318(4), 179, 180, 181, 62, and 111(3) of the BNS Act.
