Senior advocate Santanu Borthakur represented the two in court. They were accused of defaming Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma through their graffiti, which featured the slogan "Kick Himanta Save Nature."
On November 10, two were arrested after hours of questioning at Bharalumukh police station. A case (No. 200/24) was registered against them under various sections, including non-bailable offenses such as Section 351(3) of the IPC and Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
Marshall Baruah is a well-known graffiti artist, and Ankuman Bordoloi serves as the Information and Publicity Secretary and Spokesperson of the Jatiya Yuva Vahini.
For now, the court’s bail order provides relief to the two, though legal proceedings are expected to continue.
