GUWAHATI: An animal cruelty case has been registered at Dispur Police Station after a video surfaced online showing a man mercilessly beating a dog on the balcony of his residence at Bylane Number 1, Bikrampur Path in Japorigog.

Following the incident, an NGO lodged a complaint on November 21, invoking the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act, 1960, and the updated BNS 2023 animal protection laws.
The NGO has urged authorities to confiscate the dog and transfer its care to them, ensuring the animal’s safety and well-being.
The police are currently investigating the incident, and further developments are awaited.
