Revamped Nehru Park To Be Inaugurated Today

 

GUWAHATI: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma is scheduled to visit Nehru Park for its inauguration after a long-drawn remodelling process. According to sources, CM Sarma along with Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Ashok Singhal is to visit the remodelled park at around 7 PM in the evening for the event, post CM's visit to the Ayushman Assam Scheme at Sankardev Kalakshetra in Panjabari at 4 PM.

As per Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Twitter handle, he is currently in Lakhimpur to inaugurate the Sri Sri Madhabdev Kalakshetra in Narayanpur, Lakhimpur.

The Nehru Park had been under construction for a long duration of time. The park was supposed to be completed by March but was pushed back due to certain factors.

According to sources, the remodelling of the Nehru Park project came at an estimated budget of ₹11.7 crore which was undertaken by M/S Rakesh Kumar Singh.

This latest news of the park’s opening comes as a moment of rejoicing for the residents of the city.

Nehru Park is one of the oldest parks in Assam located opposite Cotton College. It is a major tourist attraction of the city as well as a place of recreation and walks for Guwahati citizens.
