Retirement Age Set At 60 For Anganwadi Workers And Helpers In Assam

GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet has announced the implementation of a uniform retirement date for Anganwadi Workers (AWs) and Anganwadi Helpers (AHs) serving in mini Anganwadi Centres (AWCs). This move aims to standardise the retirement age and bring about consistency in the management of AWCs across the state.

According to this decision, the date of relinquishment of services for all Anganwadi workers and helpers will be on April 30 of the year immediately following their completion of 60 years of age. To illustrate, Anganwadi Workers born between May 2, 1964, and May 1, 1965 (inclusive of both dates) will retire from their services on April 30, 2025.

This calculation will be applicable to all AWC workers who meet the age criteria for retirement. The introduction of this uniform retirement date aims to streamline and standardise the retirement process for AWC workers and helpers, ensuring a more organised transition as they reach the designated age.
