Reddit user slams tourists visiting northeast for littering

GUWAHATI: An image of a littered tourist spot in Meghalaya has gone viral on social media.

Tons of garbage dumped between a stack of stones is shown in the picture. The caption of the photo read “ I’d rather have my northeast India left unexplored than being ruined by as***les”.

Due to a rise in the inflow of tourists in the last decade, the state has witnessed tremendous loitering by tourists.

In fear of destruction of the beauty of ultra clean destinations in the northeast, a user, @Ronkinng on Reddit has posted a photo, explaining how he used to visit Meghalaya since he was a child and how tourists have now become a threat to the pristine beauty of the state.

Comments of people from across the globe mentioned that tour operators and the state government should ensure that the beauty of the place is not destroyed and littered by tourists.

Meghalaya is known to be one of the most beautiful states of India, gaining attraction of tourists from different parts of the world.
