GUWAHATI: The Court of Special Judge, Assam rejected the conditional bail plea filed by Rakesh Paul, suspended Chairman of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), stating that his release on bail would hamper the investigation.
The Court, while refusing the ‘wife’s ill-health’ theory put forwarded by the defence lawyers, stated that the copies of the medical certificates of his wife, is not at all justifiable.
The investigation officer also expressed apprehensions that considering the fact that Rajib Paul, the brother of Rakesh Paul is still absconding, there is every possibility that the actual accuse may flee, which may cut loose the ongoing investigation.
Paul was arrested on August 17 in 2017 after which he has been in judicial custody.
