GUWAHATI: The members of Rajasthani Chhatra Niwas celebrated Saraswati Puja this year with a purposeful theme, ‘Indian Railways.’ They have been doing this since 1952 in efforts to provide a message to the society.
They made a model of the biggest railway station, Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Mumbai as the development of Indian Railways started with the Bombay Thane Rail network.
Other models they made include the ‘Fairy Queen’ which was built in 1855 by the British firm, Kitson Thompson and Hewitson and is the old running steam locomotive in the world connecting Howarah and Raniganj.
In addition to that, they made a replica of ‘The Chenab Arch Bridge’ which is an under-construction bridge that has an elevation that surpasses the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The last replica they made is that of the ‘Maharaja Express’ which has been awarded as the world’s most luxurious railway coach from 2010-2015.
They also made a replica of the ‘Mohan se Mahatma’ railway network which has made a great contribution to our nation’s independence.
