GUWAHATI: President Ram Nath Kovind will begin his three-day visit to Assam from February 25, said Chief Minister (CM) Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Speaking to the media, CM Sarma said that during his visit, the President will lay the foundation stone for the re-development of legendary Ahom general Lachit Borphukan’s memorial to mark the general's 400th birth anniversary.
Furthermore, the President will also lay the foundation for the war memorial of the Alaboi Battle at Dodora in Kamrup, CM Sarma added.
Both the inaugurations will be done by the President in Guwahati on February 25, the day he arrives at the State.
“We extended an invitation to the honourable President for the visit and he consented to our request,” Sarma said.
On February 26, the President will attend the convocation ceremony of Tezpur University. He will then proceed to undertake a jeep safari at the Kaziranga National Park on the same day, CM Sarma said.
President Kovind will leave for Delhi on February 27, Sarma added.
