He was arrested late on March 25 night and two cases registered against him at Panbazar police station. He was granted bail on Wednesday in one of the cases.

Speaking to GPlus, Mozumder’s counsel, Abdur Sabur Tapadar, said, "He has been picked up by police officials soon after coming out of jail, but we cannot exactly say he has been arrested now."

According to sources, the second case was filed following a complaint from Assam Co-operative Apex Bank. The case (No. 111/25) has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including 329, 324(4), 351(2), 309(4), and 115.

As per the FIR lodged by the bank’s Managing Director, D Saikia, Mozumder allegedly entered the first floor of the bank’s head office in Panbazar on March 25 around 12:30 p.m. and attempted to steal crucial documents.

He was granted bail in the case (No. 110/25), which was filed under Section 351(2) of the BNS and Section 3(1)(r) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 (Amendment 2015). This was based on a complaint by Sishupal Boro, a security guard at the bank, who alleged Mozumder had used abusive language.

Further details are awaited.
