Police Firing Reported After Alleged ULFA Entry in Meghalaya

A police firing ensued in Meghalaya after reports of alleged Ulfa (I) presence in South Garo Hills.


As per sources, Ulfa (I) commander Dhristi Rajkhowa tried to slip back into Meghalaya. 


G Plus spoke to Priyangshu Pandey, Superintendent of Police, South Garo Hills, who confirmed the matter. 


"The encounter took place at a village under the Rongara police station," he said. 


The police had gone to the area after inputs. Upon reaching their, militants who came from the riverside started firing on them. 


"None of the civilians or policemen were hurt. But the militants might have suffered some injuries although there has been no fatalities," added Pandey.
