GUWAHATI: 11,140 Bihu dancers will be participating in the international level Bohag Bihu celebrations which will be held on April 14, announced Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The bihu dancers will be selected from various districts of Assam which will constitute 70% women and 30% men. The selection of the dancers will be held from March 1 to 27 after which a district level training will be provided to the dancers from March 27 to April 1, announced CM. The Bihu dancers will be selected from an age group of 15-35 years with prior Bihu dancing experience.
On April 8, the dancers will be arriving in Guwahati where they will be put up in various hostels and a dress rehearsal will be held from April 9-12.
He further announced that an amount of ₹3000 will be remunerated to the dancers who will be participating in the mega event for their attire and accessories. An additional ₹1000 will be provided to the dancers per day for the days they will be coming in for rehearsal.
On April 14, over 11,000 bihu dancers will be taking part in the celebration to create a record at the Guinness Book of World Records.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be attending the record setting Bohag Bihu celebration which will be held in Guwahati.
