The ongoing process of updating the National Register of Citizens in Assam has hit the process of evaluation of class X state board exam’s answer scripts.

According to a report by TOI, some sources in the Board of Secondary Education (SEBA) have said that due to the shortage of evaluations triggered by the engagement of teachers from government-run schools in NRC work, the board is having a difficult time in completing the evaluation of approximately 22 lakh answer scripts by March 15.

A senior SEBA official added that the board is in a hurry to complete the evaluation of over 3,00,000 students before the election commission starts bringing in government officials for election duty.

A total of 18,000 teachers will be needed for the completion of the entire evaluation process. However, district-wise engagement of a number of teachers in NRC work may create hurdles in early completion.

Even though the checking of the answer scripts has started even before the conclusion of all the papers for early results, SEBA officials are hoping that district authorities exempt school officials.
