GUWAHATI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) detained eight individuals in Assam's Goalpara district, suspected of ties to the banned terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) on Saturday, October 5.

The operation, part of a larger nationwide crackdown, spanned multiple states including Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi.
The mission was conducted in the Krishnai area, where security forces, after days of meticulous surveillance and tactical planning, raided suspected militant hideouts. The suspects are currently being interrogated at a secret location.
Speaking to the media, the Assam Chief Minister stated, "Today, a movement was conducted nationwide against Islamic fundamentalists. The Assam Police were responsible for arresting eight individuals. We have arrested those eight people and handed them over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA)"
The detainees are believed to have been actively involved in recruitment, fundraising, and attack planning for JeM. The NIA has promised to reveal more details as the investigation deepens, with further disclosures expected soon.
