GUWAHATI: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has collected ₹452.22 crores in toll taxes from nine toll gates across Assam over the calendar year 2023.

The detailed revenue data was disclosed in response to an RTI query filed by Rakesh Hazarika an RTI activist. The Madanpur Toll Gate recorded the highest collection, with ₹117.68 crore, followed by Nazirakhat at ₹91.13 crore and Dahalapara at ₹63.16 crore. Other gates contributing significantly include Patgaon with ₹61.55 crore and Raha at ₹58.43 crore.
Collections from Mikirati Hawgaon amounted to ₹31.61 crore, while Galia saw ₹24.01 crore in toll taxes. The collections of Manderdisa and Balachera, were ₹3.77 crore and ₹0.88 crore, respectively.
It needs to be mentioned that toll collection has increased across Assam but the quality of roads are not upto the mark.
