In a recent large-scale operation, the Engineering Department, supported by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of NFR, dismantled 60–70 unauthorised kachha structures at Jalpaiguri Railway Station.
This move is part of NFR’s ongoing efforts to safeguard railway property and ensure the smooth operation of railway services. Similar action was undertaken on January 23 at New Jalpaiguri Railway Colony, leading to the removal of another unauthorised structure.
These operations have been conducted to perform illegal settlements that pose safety risks and obstruct railway functions.
Apart from enforcement measures, NFR has also been implementing awareness campaigns, surveillance patrols, and strict monitoring to deter unauthorised occupation of railway land. Authorities have urged passengers and stakeholders to report any illegal encroachments and cooperate in keeping railway premises free from obstructions.
