GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet has endorsed a new 'Policy for commercialisation of Poultry sector in Assam 2024' for livestock businesses in the state.
The announcement in this regard came after its meeting on March 1.

The policy aims to bridge the gap between demand and supply in poultry products in order to make the state self-reliant and to reduce Assam’s dependency on imports and for ensuring a stable and affordable supply for the people.

The interventions introduced in the policy include facilitating access to finance, strengthening and development of infrastructure, enhancing the standards of quality, and promoting research and development in the sector.
The policy proposes several incentives worth up to ₹159.64 crore for the broiler/poultry breeding segment, along with a capital subsidy of up to ₹25 crore and an overall subsidy of up to ₹210 crore.
