As part of this initiative, Keshab Mahanta, Minister for Revenue, Disaster Management, IT, Science & Technology, and Climate Change, Govt. of Assam, and V. Narayanan, Secretary, Department of Space & Chairman, ISRO, conducted a reconnaissance visit to the proposed site.

This multi-purpose facility is expected to play a crucial role in safeguarding India’s space assets and will also contribute to enhancing Indian weather advisory services.

During the visit, Mahanta assured full support from the Assam government for the project and also proposed the establishment of a space museum in the region. This initiative aims to inspire students and educate the public about space science and technology.

Narayanan welcomed the proposal, expressing ISRO’s commitment to collaborating on the museum project, which could serve as a hub for scientific learning and innovation in the state.
