As per the data from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on the dashboard of the National Centre for Disease Control, 11.89 percent of COVID-19 cases in India are under 20.
Globally, 11 percent of the 25.7 million of COVID-19 infections in 87 countries are among children and adolescents under 20 years as per the UNICEF report 'Averting a lost Generation'.
The UNICEF has called for averting a lost generation as COVID-19 threatens to cause irreversible harm to children’s education, nutrition, and well-being.
Of these cases, more infections occurred among adolescents aged 10–19 compared to children aged between 0-9, and among males compared to females (as is true at older ages).
