Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma took to X saying, ‘Assam police have arrested an individual named Sri Reetom Singh in connection with the fake video involving Honorable Home Minister Sri Amit Shah.’

Talking to GPlus, an official from Panbazaar police station said, "Singh's tweet could have caused trouble and he's been charged under section 153 A of the Indian Penal Code."

Further investigation is under way.

The case pertains to circulation of videos involving Shah, in which his statements on abolishing quota on religious grounds were allegedly misinterpreted to convey that he was for cancelling all reservations. He had delivered the speech in Telangana.
