GUWAHATI: In a very unfortunate incident, an employee of the Nagaon Paper Mill in Jagiroad on 29th April committed suicide after he did not get his salary for the past 28 months.
Biswajit Mazumdar was a high-ranking officer of the distribution department of the mill. As per sources, Mazumdar was suffering from depression after the paper mill was shut down due to financial constraints.

He hanged himself at his room in the senior hostel of the mill. Meanwhile the body has been sent for port-mortem.
On 28th April another employee of the Cachar Paper Mill, located at Panchgram of Hailakandi district met an untimely death. The death toll has gone up to 55 in the Cachar Paper Mill and Nagaon Paper Mill of Jagiroad in Morigaon district together after the suspension of production of mills on October 20, 2015.
