Multiple initiatives get a go-ahead at AAI’s Imphal Airport

GUWAHATI: A new RADAR Surveillance system at Imphal International Airport was inaugurated by Dr. J. Suresh Babu, Chief Secretary, Govt. of Manipur and A.K. Dutta, Member (Air Navigation Services) in the presence of senior officials of AAI.

With the current trend of double digit passenger traffic growth in aviation, the Airports Authority of India is giving a major boost to the provision of Air Traffic Services by implementing state-of-the-art RADAR projects in the North-Eastern region of the country. 

The Secondary RADAR system is equipped with one of the world’s latest technology. 

As per International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards, it is of LEVEL-5 capability which gives the comprehensive and accurate information about aircraft and it can also work as digital data-link between ATC systems and aircraft.

The introduction of digital data-link facility further enhances the capability of RADAR systems many times.
