GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident, a woman from Margherita, Tinsukia, Assam, was arrested on Thursday, October 17, for allegedly murdering her five-year-old son. The accused, Supriya Bhattacharya, has been charged with the murder of her son, Abhimanyu Chakraborty.

Abhimanyu had been reported missing during Durga Puja last week. Locals grew suspicious after noticing unusual behaviour from Supriya when they visited her home. On Monday, the body of a child was discovered near the Buridihing River. The police later confirmed it was Abhimanyu.
As per the video report, one of the locals remarked , “She was acting strange and seemed very impatient when we visited her and was not answering any questions.”
As concerns grew, the family filed a police complaint, and neighbours reported the police about suspicious events, including that Supriya had been seen with mud on her clothes on the day of the child's disappearance.
After further investigation, Supriya Bhattacharya was detained and later arrested.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the case to uncover more details behind the tragic crime.
