GUWAHATI: The 9-day Autumn Session of the Assam Assembly will start from Monday, 24th September and will continue till 5th October.
Prior to the start of the session, Hitendra Nath Goswami, Speaker, Assam Legislative Assembly called for an all-party meeting where he proposed that MLAs having houses in Guwahati should vacate their government quarters. The MLAs will receive an allowance of Rs. 15000 per month for vacating the government quarters, said the Speaker.

Many MLAs, and even a minister, has not been able to get government quarters, whereas there are other MLAs, who, even after having houses in the city are occupying MLA quarters in Dispur.
