Man Sentenced To Life Imprisonment Under POCSO Act In Assam’s Morigaon

 

GUWAHATI: A Special POCSO Court in Morigaon has convicted an individual named Jadab Baruah under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in connection with a case in Mikirbheta police station.

The court sentenced Baruah to rigorous life imprisonment, meaning he will remain behind bars for the entirety of his natural life. Additionally, he has been fined ₹20,000. The verdict was pronounced by Additional Sessions Judge Smt. N. A. Ahmed, who presides as the Special Judge (POCSO) in Morigaon, in POCSO Case No. 41 of 2020.

According to the sentencing order, the Superintendent of District Jail, Morigaon, has been directed to take custody of the convict and ensure the execution of the sentence as per legal procedures. Further details are awaited.
