GUWAHATI: The Assam government has approved a compensation of ₹5 lakh each for the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, to be disbursed after May 12.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed this development following the cabinet meeting held on Monday, May 5.
The financial assistance has been provided to provide support to affected families of the terror attack, which left 25 tourists and 1 local dead on April 22.
In the same meeting, the cabinet also decided to merge the Bureau of Economic Offense with the Vigilance Anti-Corruption Department to streamline anti-graft operations in the state.
