GUWAHATI: A fine has been imposed against an individual for illegally transporting a pig in an improper manner near Montfort School, GE Road, Jorabat, on December 28 at around 3:30 PM.

Talking to GPlus, an animal activist said, "The pig was being carried on a scooter, with its legs tied and its head dragging on the ground. The scooter, bearing registration number AS 01 ET 6559, was being driven by a person who was allegedly intoxicated and not wearing a helmet."
The owner of the pig, identified as Sabita Gayari, admitted that they did not possess the necessary license to conduct business involving the sale of pigs.
Speaking to GPlus, an official from Jorabat police station, confirmed the incident saying, " The pig was taken to the vetenarian and as the condition of the pig was stable, the man was imposed fine for transporting the pig in an improper manner. We can't take any legal action as it doesn't come under police jurisdiction.
