GUWAHATI: The Assam Open Karate Championship commenced on Saturday, December 28, at the DTRP Indoor Stadium within the RG Baruah Sports Complex in Guwahati. Organised by the All Assam Karate Association (AAKA), the event has attracted 950 participants across various age categories.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, AAKA President Diganta Kalita highlighted the response to the championship, which features competitions in Kata and Kumite events. Participants are competing in sub-junior, cadet, junior, and senior categories.
General Secretary of AAKA, Adarsh Choudhury, revealed that the total prize pool for the championship stands at ₹2.20 lakh.
The championship is set to conclude on Sunday, December 29.
