Man dies in City Bus accident;driver absconding

A city bus racing to beat another at Bharalumukh travelling towards Jalukbari on Wednesday morning hit a bike, killing the rider Arup Bora.

Bora, who fell victim to yet another instance of rash driving in this city of traffic indiscipline might have been a private worker who fits chimney in houses, police said. The pillion rider in the bike, a black Pulsar, however, was lucky to escape unscathed. The duo were carrying a kitchen chimney to install at a house in Shantipur.

“On seeing traffic blockade in the front at Bharalumukh point where A.T Road meets, Bora pushed the break. The City Bus behind, however, was not too prompt in doing the same and hit the bike. Bora, toppled down the front of the bike and hit his head. He died on his way to the hospital,” traffic police told G Plus.

The city had 472 accidents this year till june in which 131 persons died and 353 were severely injured.

The bus has been brought under custody by the Bharalu police.

“The driver and the conductor of the bus are still absconding. Fearing public bashing, they fled from the scene right after the accident. We are trying to get in touch with the owner and have informed all the police stations under the commissionerate to give information about the absconding duo,” police said.
