Man Beheaded, Siblings Injured In Assam’s Nagaon

GUWAHATI: An altercation in Assam’s Nagaon left one person dead and two others critically injured on Tuesday, December 17. According to reports, the incident took place in Nagaon’s Balijoori Samsaki village under the jurisdiction of the Samaguri Police Station.

The deceased, identified as Rashidul Ali, was brutally beheaded by an unidentified group, while his younger siblings, Marzina Khatun and Kasem Ali, sustained severe injuries as they tried to save him.

“Rashidul’s body was found in the field,” a police official told reporters. “We are continuing our search to find out the perpetrators involved in the crime.”

According to preliminary investigation, the incident was triggered by a confrontation between Rashidul and the attackers. Rashidul had reportedly objected to the group consuming alcohol in front of his house, leading to an altercation. Marzina and Kasem were also allegedly attacked in their efforts to save their brother.

Local police were alerted to the scene at once, and they have detained one person in connection with the crime. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the law, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the remaining assailants.

The injured siblings, meanwhile, were rushed to Nagaon Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), where they are undergoing treatment. Their condition remains critical at the moment.
