GUWAHATI: A man identified as Krishna Saikia was allegedly beaten to death in Jorhat’s Panichakua area on Thursday, April 24. The incident is believed to be linked to a previous road accident that occurred in February, involving Saikia and another family from the same locality.

Family members of the deceased claim the fatal assault was an act of retribution. The two families reportedly had ongoing enmity, and Saikia had previously been involved in a road accident in February that also involved members of the accused family.
Pulibor Police have begun an investigation and sent the body for post-mortem. Two individuals, Pushpendra Hazarika and his son Vrigu Hazarika, have been arrested in connection with the case.
Speaking to GPlus, an official from Pulibor police station said: “During an altercation in the Panichakua area, one person lost his life. Based on the evidence and witness statements, we have arrested two individuals—Pushpendra Hazarika and Vrigu Hazarika. The accused have claimed that Krishna Saikia attacked them first, and during the confrontation, one of them struck him with a sharp object, causing heavy bleeding.
The official further stated, “Saikia’s two brothers were also present at the scene, and one of them sustained minor injuries.”
