GUWAHATI: A formal complaint has been lodged at the Sivasagar Police Station against a Facebook user accused of spreading false and misleading content against Sivasagar MLA and Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi on April 25.
The complaint lodged by Raijor Dol, states that a woman using the name Neelu Neog on Facebook has allegedly posted misleading information targeting Akhil Gogoi. The complainant raised concerns that such posts could harm Gogoi's public image and reputation.
The complaint further warns that these types of posts have the potential to incite social and communal unrest, especially during the sensitive period of the upcoming panchayat elections.
The complainant has urged the police to take appropriate action against the Facebook user. Along with the written complaint, a photograph of the post and the user’s Facebook link have been submitted as evidence.
Further investigation is underway.
