GUWAHATI: The State Literacy Mission Authority, Assam, to achieve literacy in the state has spearheaded the 'New India Literacy Programme' as per an official notification on December 15.
The initiative aims to elevate Assam to the status of a fully literate state by expanding literacy across its diverse regions. A key component of this program is an extensive survey drive scheduled to take place from December 15 to December 31, 2023.
The State Literacy Mission Authority is taking measures to ensure the success of this literacy campaign. The survey drive will play a pivotal role in assessing the current literacy landscape in Assam, identifying areas of improvement, and tailoring interventions to address specific needs.
Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu took to X to put out, “At the initiative of The State Literacy Mission Authority, Assam, efforts are being made to ensure that Assam is transformed into a fully literate state through the 'New India Literacy Programme' aimed at expanding literacy across the state. Under this, the survey drive will be conducted from December 15 to 31, 2023. I call for making this campaign a success with the participation of people from all walks of life.”
