Additional Sessions Judge P.R Raimedhi on Wednesday sentenced Akbar Ali (23) to life imprisonment and fined him an amount of Rs 10,000 for the rape and murder of a 21 year old girl, on June 23rd, 2015 at Ananda Nagar, Noonmati.
The victim was a student of Guwahati College.
The court also asked the district legal services authority to pay Rs 1 lakh to the victim's family.
