After the brutal murder of Guwahati youths Abhijit Nath and Nilotpal Das in Karbi Anglong, massive protests and demonstrations erupted across Guwahati to condemn the act. Citizens took to the streets and demanded justice for the deceased.
However, reports suggest that the protest turned violent and the police allegedly resorted to lathi charge to subdue the crowd.

In the demonstration, 7 police personnel and four protesters had minor injuries. There were stones and alcohol bottles thrown on the Police. Police personnel wre disbursed with their shields up.
Heavy traffic jams engulfed the city and major stretches of roads were blocked. Protests and demonstrations were being held at Ambari, Dighalipukhuri, Chandmari and Lachit Nagar among other places.
However, the Geetanagar OC said that there was no lathi charge at the Zoo Tiniali or Commerce Point demonstration.
