GUWAHATI: In the 100th session of the Assam Cabinet, a decision was made to form four new sub-districts under Kamrup (Metro). This was announced by the Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press conference after the Cabinet meeting held at the Brahmaputra State Guest House located in Kharhguli, Guwahati today.
The four new sub-districts will be Dispur, New Guwahati, Dimoria and Jalukbari.
The cabinet decided to form 81 new sub-districts across Assam. In every district, sub-districts are formed so that every sub-district can be headed by an official who is similar to the district commissioner.
The chief minister said that every sub-district will have a brand of all important offices so that the local people can easily avail all the services.
Districts like Cachar, Nagaon and Kamrup are likely to get the most number of sub-districts.
In today’s cabinet meeting, the cabinet has also formed four new districts.
