GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has proposed the cancellation of the Higher Secondary (HS) First-Year examinations this year, citing concerns over the academic calendar. During a Facebook Live session on Monday, March 31, he stressed that holding the examinations in April or May would leave students with insufficient time to prepare for their HS Second-Year studies.

Sarma stressed that passing or failing the HS First-Year exams does not have a significant impact on a student’s academic journey. In light of this, he urged the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA), to consider not conducting the examinations this year.
Additionally, the Chief Minister addressed the recent issues surrounding exam paper leaks, asserting that strict measures would be implemented to prevent such incidents in the future. He assured that those responsible for the leaks would face severe consequences.
